Second-graders Shannon Judith Catalano and Alan Carlo Pesce met on the playground at Glenville School. The two became fast friends, and that friendship lasted until their sophomore year in college, when things turned romantic. Five years later, as they stood on the balcony at the Delamar Hotel, Alan arranged for a plane to fly by with a banner that read, “Shannycat I Love You Will You Marry Me?” She accepted his proposal. The Reverend Rolando Torres officiated at the ceremony held at St. Mary Parish. A reception followed at Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle, New York. The bride’s first grade students at Riverside School served as ushers and flower girls.

The bride, daughter of Mary Anne and Phil Catalano of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Connecticut. She received her master’s degree in education from the University of Bridgeport. Shannon continues to teach first grade at Riverside School.

The groom, son of Denise Rosato of Greenwich, and Alan Pesce of Harrison, New York, is also the stepson of Helen Pesce and Pete Rosato. He  graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Connecticut. He works in sales and client support at GE Asset Management in Stamford.

Following a honeymoon in St. Lucia, Mr. and Mrs. Pesce returned home to Greenwich.
