High-style hits Greenwich with custom luxury designer Nedenia Hutton Craig
(page 1 of 5)
Meet Nedenia Hutton Craig, founder and designer of the luxury fashion line, DEE HUTTON. A Greenwich native, Nedenia's iconic lineage has a profound influence on her design aesthetic. Her great-grandmother, Marjorie Merriweather Post (founder of General Foods), and grandmother, actress Dina Merrill were both known for their sense of style. Growing up Nedenia accompanied them to atelier salons and design studios where shopping was an intimate experience. As a homage to that time, Nedenia offers her clients a highly-personalized (think chaises and champagne) shopping experience. Her newest collection of semi-couture evening gowns, cocktail dresses and separates is now available for order. DEE HUTTON Collection 2 is completely customizable with a variety of colors, fabrics and silhouettes with finished products being delivered within three to four weeks.
With the approach of her Greenwich trunk show we took a few minutes to get some personal details from Nedenia Hutton Craig.
Family heirloom: Pin cushion that my mom gave me for Christmas – it was my great grandmother’s and she had it re-covered for me when I started Parsons.
Necessary luxury: Having my make-up professionally done for events (I think of it as an immediate non-invasive form of plastic surgery).
Last-minute gift: Bottle of Veuve Cliquot
Local restaurant: Meli-Melo
Take-out: Hunan Gourmet
Cocktail: Vodka and soda when I’m being good, and Southside when I’m not
On ipod: My playlist is called “mama-like”— Jayz, Avicii, Beyonce
Rule of design: Should be as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside and color, color, color.
Unfulfilled ambition: Professional back up dancer touring with Beyonce...but seriously.
Charity: New Yorker’s for Children and Dress for Success
Coffee-table magazines: I’m a self-proclaimed magazine hoarder, but the first step is admitting it. Even when I’m cleaning house, I never throw out Vogue or Elle.
Pet peeve: Hangers not all hanging in the exact same direction.
Reading list: Vogue cover to cover. And eventually i’ll get to those Hunger Games books that everyone’s talking about.
Celeb crush: Tom Ford and Chelsea Handler
Guilty pleasure: Real Housewives of everywhere
