Harvest Hay Rides at the Beardsley Zoo

Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, 1:00pm to 3:00pm

On weekends during the month of October the Beardsley Zoo will be offering Harvest Hay Rides, which begin at the W.O.L.F. Cabin.

Howl-O-Ween at the Beardsley Zoo

Oct. 18 and 25, 6:30pm and Oct. 19 and 26, 10:00pm

Spend a scary night with the Beardsley Zoo, who will be offering a “Classic Monsters Hayride, Haunted Farmyard, Gruesome Greenhouse and a magic show.” The age recommendation for the event is 6-12, however, the scarier events of the evening may be better suited for children 8+.

Boo at the Zoo

Oct. 27, 12:00 to 3:00pm

Enjoy hayrides and find out the winner of the Scarecrow Competition. An added bonus: if you are under 12, in costume, and with a paying adult, you will be able to enter the Zoo for free.

Autumn Story Barn: Shock! Tales of Horror, Joy and Surprise

Enjoy some “good, old-fashioned storytelling” as storytellers weave tales about personal experiences that produced emotions of horror, surprise or joy.

Come prepared in your best costumes for the Annual Halloween Parade in New Canaan. The Old Faithful antique Fire Truck will lead the parade and goodie bags will be given out.

Every Friday night in October Stew Leonard’s will be hosting a children’s Halloween-themed movie. The movie begins at 7pm, and complimentary juice and popcorn will be served.

Join the Stamford Museum and Nature Center to meet “some of the animals that haunt your dreams, make your “skin crawl” and the hair stand up on the back of your neck.” See alligators, anacondas, owls and more!

On the Sunday before Halloween, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center will be heading to Heckscher Farm for trick or treating and crafts. You can even have your picture taken with a snake!

The St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stamford will be hosting an event that will highlight a free puppet show, carnival gains face painting and of course candy.

Halloween Hayride Spooktacular

Sept. 28 to Oct. 31; Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am to 8:00pm

Westport Halloween Spectacular

October 29; 3:00pm at the YMCA; 4:00pm on the Town Green

Kids will be able to traipse up and down Main Street for trick or treating, while making their way to Town Hall for even more treats. Afterwards, there will be a entertainment on the Green with music from DJ’s Music Mania.
