One of the hottest and most sought after types of weddings right now is known as a vintage style wedding. Partly inspired by the distinct and eclectic look of brands like Anthropologie and Terrain (both located in Westport) and partly by upscale vintage and antique items this style wedding seems to have been embraced by brides all over the country.
One of the most popular ways brides are working this style into their wedding day is to find regular everyday items and then repurpose them into a wedding day decor item. From whitewashed doors and vintage suitcases to "upcycled" tin cans, brides are finding ways to make to work in pieces that bring to life the vintage Shabby Chic look effortlessly.

If these ideas have you ready to grab your purse and head out to hunt for the perfect items you might want to consider waiting a minute and looking around your own home first. Many items that can repurposed for a wedding day can be found in right where you are. Head up to your attic or down to your basement and start to look around. Unused pieces of wood can be transformed into rustic wood welcome signs or old shutters can be the perfect escort card display. Have an old chalkboard that needs a coat of paint? After a little sprucing up this chalkboard can be made into the ideal menu display when hung at your reception.

If you don't have anything hanging around your house that will work for wedding day decor you have tons of options right outside your door. My first suggestion is to head out to Elephant's Trunk flea market which is open every Sunday and then start to look in your local antique store, estate sales and even take a quick look at the several different Goodwill locations.
