John and Gillian met through mutual friends on Nantucket. Their summer meeting evolved into something serious when after a year and a half of dating long distance, John relocated to New York City from Philadelphia to be closer to his love. Six months after his move, John proposed on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they had spent their second date.

Reverend Jason Harris officiated at the ceremony on a Cherokee plantation in Tennessee. Just as Gillian walked down the aisle, the clouds moved in and blackbirds began to circle. Luckily the rain held off for the ceremony but then came down in sheets during the cocktail hour, causing guests to run for shelter and flower arrangements to topple over. But the sky eventually cleared and it became the perfect night for a special fireworks show.

The bride, daughter of Joseph and Patricia Scanlon of Darien, graduated from Greenwich Academy and Boston College. Gillian is an associate merchant for Victoria Secret in New York City.

The groom, son of Joseph and Sally Imbriglia of Pittsburgh, graduated from St. Paul’s School, Georgetown University and Darden School of Business at UVA. John is a director of marketing for EACM Advisors in Norwalk.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Greece and Turkey. They call Manhattan home.
