Vanessa and Rick were assigned to the same dormitory freshman year at Emory University. Although they became fast friends, they didn’t start dating until the end of their senior year. Not a convenient time for a relationship, as both were headed in opposite directions. Vanessa went off to Beijing and Rick continued on to medical school in Florida.
They stayed in touch and six years after graduation, their paths crossed in San Francisco when Vanessa was visiting a cousin and Rick was on vacation. They didn’t leave their hearts in San Francisco—they found them!
After a few years of dating, Rick proposed with his grandmother’s ring, following a romantic birthday dinner for Vanessa, at Nobo South Beach. Justice of the Peace Donna King officiated at the ceremony at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan, where the reception was also held.
The bride, daughter of the late John Miller and Lorraine Miller of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and Emory University. Vanessa is getting her doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Miami.
The groom, son of the late Peter Teitzman and Honora Teitzman of Coral Springs, Florida, graduated from Taravella High School, Emory University and Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. Rick is a doctor at the Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach.
The newlyweds live in Plantation, Florida.
