These do-gooders were rewarded handsomely. Sofia Curdumi met Shane Pendley in Manhattan while taking a certification class to teach English as a second language. With a mutual love for teaching in common, Sofia and Shane took their knowledge and moved to Shanghai for two years to teach English. Once back in the States, Sofia and Shane moved to New Orleans. Six years into their courtship Shane proposed while on a picnic in Audubon Park.
Father Eugene Harrison officiated at the ceremony at St. Mary’s Assumption Church in New Orleans. A reception followed at Latrobe’s on Royal. In keeping with the tradition of the city, the entire wedding party paraded through the streets of the French Quarter to the live music of a jazz brass band.
The bride, daughter of Abelardo Curdumi and Isabel Rodriguez of Old Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and Tulane University. Sofia is a program manager at Tulane University in the Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy.
The groom, son of Michael and Marlene Pendley of Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from the Bolles School, the University of Colorado at Boulder and Tulane University. Shane is an attorney at Willeford Law Firm.
The lucky newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Paris. They live in New Orleans
