It took these high school friends until college to become a couple. Coming home for winter break, Lauren Burch and Griffin Wetmore went out to celebrate Lauren’s twenty-first birthday and they’ve been together ever since.
On the wedding anniversary of Lauren’s parents, Griffin decided it would be the perfect time to propose. With a move to Darien coming up for the couple and a late arrival to a Valentine’s Day dinner two months earlier, Griffin had a plan. Taking Lauren to Pear Tree Beach in Darien, Griffin asked her to get out the car and gave her a card with a ring inside, which he had bought on Valentine’s Day, making him late for dinner.

The ceremony was held at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield and was officiated by Pastors Alida Ward and David Rowe. Friends and family were greeted by the couple at The Patterson Club in Fairfield as the two pulled up in a family friend’s 1965 Bentley.

Lauren is the daughter of Vicki and Rick Burch of Tuscaloosa. She attended Fairfield High School and went to the University of Alabama to receive her bachelor of science degree in marketing. Lauren currently works in healthcare communications at Lawrence & Company in New York City.

Griffin is the son of Laura and Tom Wetmore of Fairfield, and he attended Fairfield High School. He went to University of Chicago and received his bachelor of arts degree in economics. Griffin is working at a hedge fund with Pine River Capital Management in New York City.

The couple will return to their Darien home after their honeymoon in Turkey and Greece.
