It was not the right time for Jaclyn Pavia Pia and Eric Jason Wood, who met four years ago through mutual friends but soon parted after only a few dates. Two years later, though, a time the two affectionately call “the comeback,” Jaclyn and Eric discovered the chemistry that was missing before, and became inseparable from then on. “All we needed was a little time,” she says.

Barely a year later, when Jaclyn and Eric began to drive out of town for what was supposed to be a weekend in upstate New York, he instead drove to Shippan, telling her he was in no rush to begin the long drive. “We never go to the beach,” he told her. “Let’s see the sunset.” While walking down the dock at West Beach, Eric proposed.

Jaclyn and Eric then celebrated with family and friends at the North Stamford home of Jacqueline and Bob Bartram, Jaclyn’s mother and stepfather. (The weekend trip was postponed.)

Jacqueline Bartram, a justice of the peace, married the couple during a garden ceremony at her home.

Also the daughter of Thomas Pia of Stamford, Jaclyn is a history teacher at the Stanwich School. She graduated from Westhill High School and Northeastern University. She also holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Bridgeport.

Eric, the son of Theresa and Roy Wood of Marlboro, New York, is a history teacher at New Rochelle High School. He graduated from Marlboro High School and SUNY Albany, and holds a master’s degree in education from Iona College.

After a honeymoon in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple returned home to Stamford.
