Blair and Craig are a modern-day couple. They hang their hats in different cities at night but are bound by love and marriage. The two met at a restaurant in North Carolina while Blair was on a date with one of Craig’s friends. Once they were introduced to each other, it was clear Blair was on a date with the wrong gentleman.
The pair dated for two years before Craig proposed at The Plaza Hotel in New York City, bearing champagne and flowers on a cold December night. Blair said yes, and they made it official at the First Congregational Church on Nantucket. Reverend Dr. Gary Klingsporn officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at the Nantucket Golf Club.
The morning of the wedding, guests took part in a 5K “race to the altar”; not surprisingly the bride and groom came in first place. The excitement continued, right into the church when the bride and groom were surprised in the middle of the wedding ceremony by a flash mob made up of an a capella group dressed as wedding guests who sang James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind”, a bittersweet homage to the couples long-distance romance.
The bride, daughter of Nell and John Otto of Greenwich, attended Greenwich Academy and graduated from The Taft School, Davidson College
and received her MBA from Duke University. Blair is a vice president of mobile-banking marketing for Bank of America.
The groom, son of Paul and Patrice Bijou of New Jersey, graduated from Freedom High School, Boston College and received his MBA from the University
of North Carolina. Craig is an equity research analyst for Wells Fargo Securities in New York City.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Bijou returned to their homes in Manhattan and Charlotte, respectively, after honeymooning in Africa.
