Avid sailors Carolyn “Carrie” Landis and Edward “Eddie” Briganti were introduced by the bride’s father, who is also a sailor, in May of 2008. At that time, Mr. Landis and the groom were preparing to compete in the 2008 Newport-Bermuda Race out of Newport, Rhode Island. “Eddie’s boat lost its mast and the next day he was asked to race on my Dad’s boat,” says Carrie. “They got to talking and my Dad mentioned he had a daughter who wanted to do more sailing and who was pretty cute, too.”

The next day, Carrie received Eddie’s e-mail address and a glowing report about him from her father. She reached out to him. Eddie thought she would become another sailing friend and that it wouldn’t lead to anything romantic. Two weeks later, they met at the New York Yacht Club and the sparks flew.

In June of 2011, the couple went for a sunset sail aboard Dark Horse, the sailboat they race out of the Larchmont Yacht Club. When they were back at the mooring and had to put the sail away, Carrie asked for the sail cover but instead, Eddie came out of the companionway with the ring and proposed on bended knee.

The Reverend Paul J. Carling and the Reverend David Anderson officiated at the ceremony at St. Luke’s Parish in Darien. A reception followed at the Larchmont Yacht Club. The newlyweds departed the reception by launch. Soon after, they began their honeymoon in Thailand and Cambodia.

The bride is the daughter of Cynthia and Steven Landis of New Canaan. A graduate of Mamaroneck High School and Trinity College, Carrie is in private banking for JP Morgan Chase in New York City.

The groom is the son of Karen and Al Briganti of Darien. He is a graduate of Darien High School and Bowdoin College, where he received an A.B. in government and economics. Eddie is currently a student at Columbia Business School, where he will receive his MBA in 2013.
