I love going to industry conferences! Inspiration is all around me. I go slowly, taking in every detail, thinking about how we can take these inspirations and create wonderful wedding celebrations.
Today I spent the day at The National Stationary and Creative Arts Show in New York. From tabletops to a milk paint that distresses furniture for a vintage look, I couldn’t wait to bring them all back to our brides!
Here are a few of the newest…
Color
Color sets the tone, bright, bold and beautiful. Color creates magic. It charms and coaxes, quiets or astonishes, restores and replenishes. Color needs to be in balance, practical while satisfying aspirations for something new and exciting.
Every year Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards, sets the stage for the choices. As summer entertaining begins, these are some of the color trends that you will be seeing this season. Emerald Green may be the 2013 color of the year, but is is balanced against soft neutrals, including linen and a range of greys.
Tender Shoots: Green is the color of spring, our natural surroundings, and this season’s greens run to every shade of nature. Green is the natural backdrop to every other color.
Greyed Jade: subtle, quiet green with a grey undertone. Greyed jade is the mood of quiet reflection and repose.
Emerald: sophisticated and lively, emerald is a radiant green. It is a color that says "party!"
African Violet: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner, bringing a touch of intrigue as purples do. This is great matched with exuberant Poppy Red.
Poppy Red: seductive, sensual and celebratory…great in a dress or lipstick! A spirted choice for an accent color.
Nectarine: bright, cheerful and happy. Paired with Lemon Zest this screams warmth and a burst of energy!
Dusk Blue: no list of color trends is complete without a blue! Dusk blue is gorgeous with neutrals, offering a calming sense of serenity. Or, go the opposite direction and pair it with the intensity of nectarine.
Linen: a warm neutral that is light and airy and a perfect companion to Greyed Jade or Dusk Blue.
Monaco Blue: classic shade offering depth. Pair with Poppy Red and Linen or with Emerald for a Preppy look.
Food
We want to savor our foods! Wedding menus today are more than simply selecting from list A or B. We are excited to report that we are looking for eating occasions that are defined by freshness, distinctive flavors and actually have a narrative! Bold flavors such as tangy, smokey, salty, and herbal will be making appearances at weddings everywhere this year.
When selecting your wedding menu, you want to strive for top-notch restaurant quality. Wedding menus today reflect heritage, cultures, fun and sassy foods.
The trend towards dessert stations that seem to go on and on is still going strong…but move over cupcakes and donuts! From France, macaroons have arrived! We love them for their soft pastel color and shiny outer layer.. and of course for their taste!
Stationery
Chalkboards: Going along with the trend of hand-lettering, chalkboards are everywhere, in every size! Black are the most popular, but there is the green and even brown ones to select from. Most use white chalk but colored chalk makes it more fun. Anyone for sidewalk art?
Kraft Paper: This earthy color can take a lot of moods. See it used in envelopes as well as dressing a table. We love to write the names of the foods on the Kraft table on a food presentation.
Cityscapes and Skyscapes: As we spend more and more time in a digital world, we seem to have a real need for real places. Look for trends that show cityscapes that we love and that are real to us. Fond memories of travel and living in special places make their way into our stationary.
Partyware: We are firm believers in being comfortable hosts! As you celebrate your wedding with lots and lots of parties, look for design driven selections that are carefree and really beautiful. Entertaining with a sense of design and flair will come easily when you plan ahead.
Gradient Color: Look for stationary that play on the idea of gradient color with everything from dip-dyed to watercolor looks.
