Tunin' with Tad

Fairfield County's Live Music Scene in June

Crosby, Stills, and Nash, June 16

Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theatre

The recent deaths of music icons Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Robin Gibb serve as a good reminder to create your personal "band bucket list." Who would you like to see perform in concert before either of you retire from touring? Let me know who is on your list @Tadlemire #Bucket.

There are quite a few legendary contenders coming to Connecticut in June. Crosby, Stills and Nash will be at Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theatre June 16th. See? Don't you wish you saw them when Neil Young was in the mix? This band is notoriously known for feuding with each other. What happens if Nash and Stills get into a fight and Nash and Young decide they want to tour together again, but Young doesn't really want to hit the road with Crosby? The point is, you might want to seize the opportunity to see the original configuration of this beautifully harmonious trio while you have the chance. I'm not sure if the Marakesh Express stops in Wallingford, but I would research that train schedule as well.

Roger Waters, June 29

XL Center

Speaking of band in-fighting, Pink Floyd co-founder and principal songwriter Roger Waters comes the XL Center June 29th. This show makes my personal band bucket list for the simple fact that I remember watching "The Wall" video at a friends house when I was 16 years old.  Yes, the first song I learned on guitar was (wait for it) "Wish You Were Here."  I, like 99 percent of the world's male population, played that song until my fingers bled, and well over twenty years later I still play it as poorly as I did back then.

Check out this 2011 performance of "The Wall"  at London's O2 Arena when Floyd's David Gilmour made a surprise appearance.

CBS' Sixty Minutes did a great feature story on the tour:

A concert tour of this magnitude has never been seen before, and may never been seen again.  Anyone who has been to a show walks away saying it's the best live event they've ever laid eyes on. This will be well worth the trip to Hartford. You might also want to buy tickets to see a larger scale version in Boston (Fenway Park July 1st) and New York (Yankee Stadium July 6th and 7th)

Miss the chance to see Queen when Freddy Mercury was alive? Here's your opportunity see the next best thing, when The Queen Extravaganza comes to Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theatre June 9.

The tour is produced by Queen's Roger Taylor, and features contest winner Marc Martel in Mercury's place on lead vocals, you can watch his amazing audition here:
