l’escale, one of Greenwich’s premier restaurants, will unveil classic tableside dining as well as an innovative new tasting menu for the winter season.
Wine aficionados and collectors are invited to bring the best wines from their personal collections to l’escale, where Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer will create a unique 6-course degustation around the wine’s specific attributes. Whether it is a DRC Domaine Romanee Conti, a Chateau Y’Dquem, or a Chateau Latour, this modern version of “BYOB,” will allow guests to experience a personalized tasting menu while enjoying their prized wines.
“Many of our clients have exceptional wine cellars and we wanted to give them the opportunity to enjoy their special vintages at l’escale with personalized service and a unique tasting menu,” says Director of Operations David Fletcher.
The menu, which will be available for parties of six or more, Monday through Friday, will be exclusively designed starting $140 per person without a corkage-fee.
In addition to the new customized tasting menu, l’escale will be bringing back the classic dining style of tableside service. This theatrical type of dining has been making a comeback in restaurants throughout New York City such as Eleven Madison Park, Benoit, and Maloney & Porcelli. Tableside service brings an element of showmanship and performance to the dining room. l’escale will prepare several different dishes tableside, from appetizers to dessert, including Black Truffle Chicken, Côte de Bouef and Day Boat Whole Fish with croûte de sel. Executive Pastry Chef Wendy Young Laurent will also be on hand to prepare l’escale’s renowned Crêpes Suzette Flambé.
Since opening in 2002, l’escale, which means “the port of call” in French, has been highly acclaimed for creating superior French food in a warm and elegant setting.
l’escale Restaurant and Bar is located in the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel, 500 Steamboat Road, in Greenwich, Connecticut. The dining room is open Sunday through Thursday from 5pm to 10pm and on Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 11pm; the lounge is open Sunday through Wednesday from 5pm to midnight and Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 1am.
