Don't wait up!

As the temperature drops, many dream of the opportunity to jetset off to far away destinations such as Ibiza, the decadent Isle off the coast of Spain. With the frigid winter setting in, who wouldn’t want to escape the cold chill and snow for a ride on the hydrofoil to Italy’s beautiful Capri Island? Or perhaps swap your fur, gloves and hat for the chance to wear a Mediterranean Blue Pucci printed flowing dress while enjoying the warm island breezes of the Caribbean?

This season, the best way to enjoy a climate change is having the perfect wardrobe to compliment any activity on and off the beach..

When shopping for new resort wear think bright colors. If you can imagine a flavor of sorbet such as lime, mango or raspberry to match your outfit choice then you are headed in the right direction. Colorful prints such as vivid paisley or bold floral designed dresses, or a loose and sexy color blocked caftan blouse over white Capri pants provide both that essential level of comfort and vibrant look perfectly appropriate for any tropical weather (and drink for that matter!).

The new vision of paradise now features a retro Hawaiian print on everything from blouses to tee shirts and cover-ups. And speaking of retro; I am feeling a bit of Bridget Bardot, as pink and white check bikinis are back. Even the classic navy and white polka dot takes a new twist on both skirts and shorts.

Looking to style a lightweight silk skinny jean? Dolce & Gabbana feature luscious pink and green prints tropical prints paired with bright strappy sandals in their Spring 2012 collection.

While browsing through Bergdorf’s” Look Book”, I was thrilled to see an array of color and design in the clothes that are featured. I will absolutely be packing for my dream Tropical Getaway the Michael Kors Neon Pink slit up the front long cotton spandex dress featured on page 20. (Guess I better hit the gym and do my crunches before I put this number on!) Also check out page 34, as this white flowing Grecian inspired dress by Azzedine Alaia will make you want to dance on the sand under the starry moonlit skies.

Take a look and get inspired!

If you are more of a hands on shopper, local shops such as Tahiti Street, Calypso and Soliel Toile have the best variety. In my travels, I popped into Calypso on Main Street in Westport. Fabulous caftans, dresses, tees and skirts. Your vacation would not fly without a few pieces from this store! Check out The Kora Ruched Dress… it is already packed and ready for my flight!

Less we not forget the main ingredient… swimwear! I had a little chat with Andrea the owner of Tahiti Street in Greenwich to find out what items will sail and what will sink! Eres bathing suits manufactured by our beloved Chanel in France have very simple yet flattering lines with a Euro cut and a wonderful lightweight spandex. For a more vintage flair, look to designer Karla Coletto’s crochet lace suits and cover ups to look and feel like a bathing beauty.

So ladies… there you have it.

Personally, I get my sun kissed look before a board the plane with a product called “Tanning Towels”. They are just like wet naps. Just wipe them all over your gorgeous body….head to toe…for a great glow!
You can get them at any tanning store near you.
