The Style Report: Dress For Romance

Turn up the heat on Valentine's Day

Karla Colletto Lace Suit available at Tahiti Street

While most of you gals are rummaging through your closet wondering which outfit to wear on Valentine’s Day my advice is simple, treat yourself to that new dress you've been waiting to splurge on! Think a little number that will “Bring His Heart Undone” a quote from Keith Urban to his lady love; Nicole Kidman. He got me with that line! Alright Lynn; step away from Keith and get back to writing!

So, how to dress for a bit of romance? Let’s talk technicolor hues such as cotton candy pink, lipstick red, electric blue and marigold orange. These colors are instant mood lifters! But in choosing one of these shades; remember to keep the silhouette simple and solid. Note that most of these jewel tones can be found in a myriad of dress designs and fabrics. I am seeing so many dresses in lace overlay with sheer sleeves or backs. It is a seductive yet very sweet looking way to get that "wow" factor.

Pop into BCBG and give the “coquette runway dress” a whirl; with its fitted bodice and flirty sheer ruffle bottom this dress will be sure to make your date weak at the knees.

Are you in the mood to sparkle? Silver, gold or gunmetal will absolutely make you shine. Shimmering sequins or rhinestone adorned outfits will leave your sparkled reflection in your loved one’s eyes!!

When putting on the glitz; there is a fine line between tasteful and tacky. Keep it fresh and now and go easy on the jewels. I always purchase a bit of glitz for all my clientele; either in a top, tunic or dress.  And I get that furrowed brow look from each one upon its presentation. My answer is “trust me.”

Then I get the photo text from them saying: “Look at me, I feel like Cinderella!” Tory Burch and Alice + Olivia are just two places where you will find that unique glittery number.

Another look of sophistication is that spectacular LBD. Be sure to pick one with a bit of texture, such as lace, beaded adornment, maybe a chiffon with some ruffles, a black silk satin or Peau de Soie.

My favorite haunts for the ultimate little black number would have to be at Saks Fifth Ave or Ralph Lauren.

Always remember to let the dress enhance your magnificent beauty! It should be comfortable as well as making you feel pretty so when you greet your special someone and see their smile; you will know that it’s going to be a magical night!

For those of you who do not have a significant other. Celebrate your love of yourself!

This is your time to give to you! Buy some flowers for your bedroom, treat yourself to a spa day or maybe a bauble from Millie Rae's in Westport.

Bottom line: February 14th is a day for love! Be it for you, your kids, or your partner. Make it special!
