The Freshest Seafood in Fairfield County

7 places to buy great seafood

One of the perks of living on the coast is access to seafood so fresh, you would almost think you caught it on a boat yourself!

It can be hard to know where to get the best of the best, but luckily, we've done some of the work for you. Here are some of our favorite spots to get fresh seafood:

Bridgeport Lobster & Shellfish

This market offers a wide variety of fin fish, shellfish, and crustaceans. They also have a full menu and catering service for your summer parties, and are expanding their take-out specials to include picnic foods such as Ahi tuna wraps, hush-puppies and Philly Cheesesteaks. A small eating area is available for those who would like to avoid getting sand in their bisques, chowders and conch fritters.

BonTon Fish Market

Stock up here on seafood, fresh fish, soups and sauces as you head to your coastal destinations this summer. Salmon or tuna burgers, soft shell crabs, prepared seafood and cooked lobsters are some of the offerings that you can even pick-up curbside. They also ship (“Far and Wide”) next-day and anywhere in the U.S. Who wouldn’t love fresh seafood delivered to their door?

Fishtales Seafood Market

With daily deliveries from the Boston and Maryland fish markets plua Long Island Sound fisherman, fresh is a given. Owner Dan Mallozzi promises that your appetite for seafood will be satisfied with lobster bakes, raw bar selections, “blackboard platters” such as Ipswich Belly Clams, and a catering menu for special occasions. General Manager Matt Ness notes that the crew at Fishtales is always happy to make suggestions on what to get!

Fjord has been supplying fresh and “traceable” fish (so you know where it came from) since 1992. Recently, new owners Jim Thistle and Mark Scozzafava took over, but the quality remains outstanding. The menu contains delicious items such as fish tacos, crab cake sandwiches, and whole lobster or fish dinners! For your summer celebrations, get on board with their Fjord BBQ/Clambake/Raw Bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, canapes and starters, and full catering and sushi menu.

Their Bluepoint Oysters and hardshell Littleneck Clams hail from Norwalk Harbor. A favorite is the Copper River Sockeye Salmon — it will delight you.
