Make Your Next Girls’ Night a Beautiful Occasion

Ralph Lauren wows with its glamorous window display

Everyone has more fun when they look and feel their fabulous best. So instead of meeting the girls for the same old cocktails and bar bites, why not rendezvous for a beautiful evening? Several area salons, makeup emporiums and private artists offer their clients a chance to gather at the beauty bar for a memorable night of mini-makeovers, flawless blowouts and hands on hair care lessons.

We’ll take learning how to wield a round brush for the perfect glossy blowout over a bowl of chips and dip any day, but no need to skip the libations: Some of these trendy beauty spots even supply the wine and cheese. So call your VIP gal pals, get out your datebooks and make it a beauty date.

Here are a few places to primp with your posse:

Serenity Beauty & Spa's exclusive hair parties give you more than great girl time and beautiful hair; You leave with all the tools necessary to execute the perfect blow dry in the comfort of your own home!

Here’s the scoop: Serenity's Creative Artistic Director, Roberto Lugo, will host you and a group of your closest girlfriends on an evening of your choice. As you enjoy complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, Lugo will spend time analyzing each guest’s hair, as well as her personal products and tools. (So bring them along.) You'll watch as he customizes a product cocktail using each woman's own personal arsenal of hair products, and then walks everyone through the steps needed to achieve their perfect blow dry. Guests receive individualized guidance, personalized step-by-step instructions, and (best of all!) you get to spend the evening hanging out with your nearest and dearest. What could be better? Call the Greenwich Avenue spa for details on booking and pricing.

Fairfield-based makeup artist and Best of the Gold Coast favorite Arleigh Cole likes nothing more than digging into cluttered makeup bags and helping her clients edit down to essential basics that will keep them pretty by day and night. Cole just has a knack for recommending the very best luxury brand workhorses while giving you tips on how to save some spare change on terrific inexpensive mascaras and pocketbook glosses. She loves to offer this cosmetic bag makeover service, along with mini-make up lessons, for girls’ nights in your home or some special venue. Contact Arleighhairmakeup@gmail.com for pricing and details.

New Canaan

With its perky pink sweet shop vibe, Benefit cosmetics is the perfect venue for a girl’s night and its staff are pros at playing expert host. For the price of $50 per guest the staff welcomes private parties who are treated to wine, cheese, grapes, a full makeup application and one service (such as a brow tint or shaping). Even better: The guest fee is completely redeemable in product purchase so everyone leaves with a goodie bag.

Blow Dry Southport welcomes parties for occasions and will (for a set fee) even give you the run of the salon for an evening of blow dries, expert brow tints and shapings and makeup applications. Or, book a row of chairs for you and your party to indulge the services of your choice while the staff takes care of the cupcakes, libations and fabulous hair.

Benefit Cosmetics offers the same great pretty-in-pink parties at its Westport venue that it features in its New Canaan store.

Faces Beautiful. Following its recent relocation and partnership with new neighbor, Salon Dematteo, this go-to Westport beauty spot can now expand on its already terrific girl’s night offerings. Private parties here are always custom; ranging from light makeup applications and hair stylings for Sweet 16’s to a night of blow-outs, makeup and luxury anti-aging treatments for more mature beauties. Revelers are welcome to bring food, champagne or be inventive (one upcoming event is going to involve a Bigelow tea sampling combined with beauty services). Contact the studio for details and custom pricing.
