Back when they were students at New Canaan High School, Sarah Eydt and Charlie Arestia met through the Congregational Church youth group. The group took a mission trip to Chicago and the two developed a close friendship that led them to start dating in 2008. After Hurricane Sandy, the couple was displaced from their apartment for a week. After they moved back in, Charlie surprised Sarah with a ring when she returned home from work one evening. The couple married at the North Universalist Chapel Society in Woodstock. The reception was at the bride’s grandparents’ estate in South Pomfret, Vermont. The couple arrived in her grandfather’s 1950s green Chevy pickup truck. The reception was rustic and everyone pitched in. The mothers of the bride and groom, for instance, created the napkin rings and the bride made chalkboard menus. Sarah is an ad sales marketing manager at HGTV and the DIY Networks in New York. She is a daughter of William and Lisa Eydt of New Canaan. Charlie is a vice president at Guggenheim Partners in New York. He is a son of Jane Arestia of New Canaan and the late Ken Arestia.
