Michele Elaine Zatzkis and Matthew Justin Slaine

Michele and Matt were introduced by a mutual friend who was a former work colleague of Michele’s and who Matt attended summer camp with as a child. Coincidentally, another friend of Michele’s who had gone to preschool with Matt also thought that they would be a great match. Michele figured he must be at least worth meeting if two of her close friends wanted to set her up with him. Their first meet up was at Blue Ribbon Sushi in Columbus Circle—the same spot where Matt would propose four years later.
Rabbi Alexis Berk officiated at the ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans, where the reception followed. The couple’s rescue dog, Max, walked down the aisle with his custom baby-blue bow tie that matched the groomsmen’s bow ties.

The bride, daughter of Ralph Zatzkis of Dallas and Sherril Herman of New Orleans, graduated from the Isidore Newman School and the University of Georgia. Michele is a senior manager in the public relations department for Hearst Magazines in New York City.

The groom, son of Mason Slaine of Florida and Joan Schwartz of Stamford, graduated from Brunswick School, Dartmouth College and New York University Stern School of Business. Matt is the CEO of Progressive Business Media in New York City.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in South Africa and Mauritius before returning home to Manhattan.
