Genna Blackman and Seth Chernin
The bridal party and a fabulous coastal view
After Genna Blackman and Seth Chernin struck up a friendship playing soccer on a coed team in New York City, Seth realized she would be the perfect friend-date for a coworker’s wedding. “We thought it would be a fun night out, and then we ended up really hitting it off,” says Genna. “I chalk it up to his impressive moves on the dance floor.” After four years of dating, they took a vacation to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. During a morning walk on the quiet beach at Cinnamon Bay, Seth popped the question. The couple celebrated their wedding and reception at the Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island. There were clouds in the sky when the outdoor ceremony began, but as the couple recessed to Here Comes the Sun, the weather broke, the sun came out and the remainder of the day was beautiful. Genna wore her mother’s veil, thirty-nine years to the day after her mother did. The groom added his own special touch to his wedding clothes: Darth Vader cufflinks. The bride graduated from Darien High School and attended Gettysburg College. She is a communications manager at American Express in Manhattan and a daughter of Kathy and Nick Blackman of Naples, Florida. The groom, a teacher at PS 369 in the Bronx, is a son of Michelle and Mitchell Chernin of Pennsylvania.
