The song goes, “I left my heart in San Francisco,” and that is exactly what happened to Will Eckhoff. Will was in town from New Zealand visiting his friend Drew when he met the love of his life, Drew’s fiancee’s sister, Emily. The couple dated long distance for fourteen months with the help of Skype and the handwritten love letters Will wrote to Emily. While on one of his visits to San Francisco, Will proposed during a sunset picnic. Reverend Terrance Elsberry officiated at the ceremony at Soldier’s Chapel, and the reception followed at the MacDonald’s Ranch “Great Point” in Big Sky, Montana.
The bride, daughter of Brian and Mary MacDonald of Riverside, graduated from Westminster School, Montana State University and the French Culinary Institute. Emily is the chef and owner of Sweet Mason Baking Company in New Zealand.
The groom, son of Paul and Josephine Eckhoff of New Zealand, graduated from Christ’s College and Lincoln University. William is a project manager for Hawkins Construction in New Zealand.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Fiji before returning home to New Zealand.
