Hudson Chorale, Westchester’s largest mixed chorus, will launch its 2012-2013 season on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Scarborough Presbyterian Church, Scarborough Manor, with an exhilarating concert designed to appeal to all musical tastes – from the Classical – to the Modern – to the Great White Way. Entitled, On Strings of Song, the program features an eclectic mix of inspiring works: Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D Minor; Mendelssohn’s Jesu, Meine Freude; tender, jewel-like Five Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre; Lukas Foss’ stirring anthem, I Build an House; and well-loved choruses from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. The unifying theme of this multi-dimensional program is that all of the works feature accompaniment by an exciting string ensemble of highly accomplished musicians. A delectable post-concert reception, a long-standing Hudson Chorale tradition, will be held in the parish hall immediately following the concert.
The program is in keeping with the chorus’ goal of providing both audience members and singers with the best possible experience in choral singing, offering a repertoire that ranges from the great masterpieces to contemporary compositions. Michael Conley is the Music Director of the Hudson Chorale. Mr. Conley enjoys a multi-faceted career as a conductor, composer, pianist, organist and singer. In addition to serving as Music Director of the Hudson Chorale, Mr. Conley is the Music Director of the highly popular West Village Chorale and the Judson Memorial Church in Manhattan.
