Nicholas Kristof, the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist and best-selling author, has made it part of his life’s work to advocate for abused and oppressed women and girls throughout the world. Whether writing about a 15-year-old Cambodian girl sold into sex slavery in Thailand or a 13-year-old runaway held captive and forced into prostitution on the streets of New York City, Kristof has urged his readers to recognize and react to the horrific and widespread plague of violence against females perpetrated through sex trafficking, rape and domestic violence. Further, he suggests numerous ways to mitigate gender violence, with a strong emphasis on education and economic empowerment for women.
The Domestic Violence Crisis Center is thrilled to announce that Kristof will be the keynote speaker at its 11th annual Voices of Courage Spring Luncheon on May 9th at the Stamford Marriott Hotel.
