Sweet Summertime Memories
It's been a great summer so far at Stamford's Alive @ Five concert series. I hope you've been following me on Twitter for some of the great photos and video I've caught backstage. Here are a few examples:
G. Love & Special Sauce, June 28th
Matisyahu's had a surprising new look (sans beard) and surprisingly impressive dance moves at his show July 12th.
One pleasant "discovery" was NYC based Emergency Service. Like Matisyahu, the band is genre-defying. They've been compared to Arrested Development, Gym Class Heroes, and OAR. I thought they sounded great, and recommend you check out their album "Things Worth Fighting For" on iTunes.
Here are some of the acts I think will be worth checking out this month:
08.18.12 Jane's Addiction, Foxwoods, Mashantucket
08.19.12 Train, Mohegan Sun, Uncasville
08.23.12 Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Ridgefield Playhouse, Ridgefield
08.24.12 Blues Traveler, The Klein, Bridgeport
08.24.12 The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen (ask your daughter… watch her freak out), Mohegan Sun, Uncasville
08.24.12 Duran Duran, Foxwoods, Mashantucket
08.25.12 Straight No Chaser, Ives Concert Park, Danbury
08.25.12 Jason Mraz, Comcast Theatre, Hartford
08.25.12 Stone Temple Pilots, Foxwoods, Mashantucket
08.26.12 Chicago/The Doobie Brothers, Comcast Theatre, Hartford
08.26.12 Robin Thicke, Foxwoods, Mashantucket
08.30.12 Evanescence, Mohegan Sun, Uncasville
08.31.12 Zac Brown Band, Mohegan Sun, Uncasville (also appearing 09.01.12)
