Ooh la la this season's glamorous wedding makeup trends begin with the ever flirtatious fake eyelashes. Yes, we can safely say fake eyelashes are and will continue to be trendy this season. For each beautiful bride, there’s much more to her wedding day ensemble than simply ‘thee’ dress. One must also consider the hairstyle, the shoes, and the accessories and of course, the all-important make up!
Falls best beauty trends include blush gone bonkers, nudes with attitude and color galore.
“Bridal make up usually is a timeless classic look, often unchanging season to season, however, it does change depending on the brides personality and how natural they would like to be. Some brides would rather look like themselves only better, and others say – go for it, I want to look like a million bucks!” said Cynira Fassarella, make-up artist/esthetician at Cosmetic Boutique in Fairfield. “I would go with false eyelashes for sure, over the last couple of years they’ve almost become a staple. Almost every single bride does them. Popular this season I’ve been seeing emphasis on the eyes and a brighter cheek and lip color.” Bridal make-up should look like the best version of yourself, so you feel confident, radiant and glowing. Give yourself time on your special day to be pampered by your hair and make-up team. Make-up can be very calming and the necessary little oasis of peace before the big event.
Tips: As little foundation (pressed powder is best) as possible is recommended, as is extra definition on the eyes (water proof mascara), a slightly deeper lip color and more blush, as you are being photographed. Don’t forget the SPF if you’re having an outdoor wedding. Bridal make-up is usually natural, gorgeous and glowing, with soft definition on the eyes and a natural lip color. Bringing a touch-up kit is suggested and in it should be a pressed powder, a small brush, a tiny mirror, lipstick/gloss and tissues for those teary moments (dab, don’t wipe).
A make-up trial is also highly recommended so you have visual references, are confident that your makeup artist can make you look your best and are sure there will not be any surprises on your big day.
Many brands and designers have paraded models wearing false eyelashes during the most important fashion weeks in Paris, New York and London. The 2012 collections saw the marriage (pun intended) of dramatic impactive lashes with ‘barely-there-make-up’. This includes discreet shadows and light tones of blusher teamed with thick eye liner and lashings of mascara. False eye lashes achieve a deep and seductive look, reminiscent of glamorous movie stars of the past (Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, and Twiggy. Circa 1960s).
Dresses on display at recent bridal shows were anything but understated. With top designers showcasing opulent gowns, models were styled with understated hair and make-up. Sleek chignons ruled the runways and were finished with a spray of Bumble and bumble Shine on Finishing Spray all over the head for a dazzling shine. Nearly every hairstyle had an irresistible accessory paired with it. Pinks and peaches are passé – this season bronzed brides are on trend. Fake tans and golden eyes are all the rage. Models were sent down the runways with perfectly lined black top lashes, while most bottom lashes were left liner and mascara free. (Tip: try Kimara Ahnert Super Wear Gel Liner for an easy to achieve, blackest black flick).
Fairfield County is teeming with top notch make-up artists and state of the art salons and spas, each creating flawless faces on a daily basis.
